Wanna Brownie? They're Spicy!

I am a very popular guy you know. I’m kind of a big deal. Actually, I’m just busy with work this week and off to a cousin’s wedding. As a result, I’m traveling and seeing a lot of people lately, which of course coincides with my trying to get back into the blog. Oh well, at least I’m doing a late night quickie, which is the most action I’ve gotten in awhile. Yeah, uh, right. Anyway, here we go.

The buzz and questions and accusations continue to fly in the wake of Henry’s departure from Arsenal. Most of it is rubbish, so that’s the end of that. Not much else has happened with the club this week, and I doubt too much more will. Wenger is on holiday, so until he gets back, we’re all just chillin.

Down on the south coast of England, Ian Holloway is planning for next season at Plymouth and hoping to improve on their 11th place finish last season. "We had 16 draws last year but had we won about four of those then we would have been in one of those positions," said Holloway. And by one of those, he means a playoff spot for promotion to the Premiership. There is still a bit of work for him to do and he is hoping to not only keep a lot of his players, but to bring Chelsea boy Sinclair back to Home Park on another loan spell. Speaking of Home Park, the club is going to have to close it’s Mayflower terrace due to rules that all Championship and Prem clubs be all seaters (no terraces). They were given a 3 year pass when promoted in 2003. It is said though that even with the all seaters, they should be fine on capacity.

The U.S. sawker team plays against the Argies tomorrow. USA! USA! USA! We have guests coming in town when the match is to be showing, so I’ll just have to put it on in the background. A background that I’ll be paying close attention to. It’s just old neighbors that are coming to visit and they know the score. When football is on, all bets are off. My participating in conversations at half time is much appreciated, at least I think so. Anyway, here’s hoping to a few goals and Gooch knocking a few of the Argies on their arses.

Finally, all you lovers of the herb, time for you to go Indo. To Indonesia that is, as the country has legalized putting pot in food. It is supposed to be used only as a spice they say. “Hey mon, want some ‘spciy’ brownies?” Totally wrong written accent, but whatever, it’s my blog.

I’m off to a boat ride and a long walk down a revetment tomorrow.

Adios.

Fat, Drunk, and Stupid is No Way to Go About Blogging Son...

The blog is back and running again. Not through any effort of my own though. I have spent many days thinking I needed to get back here, update the news, and spout some inane commentary. But alas, I was too lazy to do it. But I have been recently called out publicly as a lazy bum, so I am here in shame. Well, not really shame, but I figure I ought to get back on it. There are so many people that thrive on these pages that I can’t let him down.

So, on to recent topics. For Arsenal, it is of course the departure of Thierry Henry to Barca. So why is there a picture of me with Cesc’s jersey? Because I wanted to. Anyway, square miles of space have been devoted to the Henry topic so I’ll keep it brief. Henry wanted to go. Simple as. All the bollocks about Dein leaving, Wenger possibly not staying, the state of the Arsenal board, etc. are just that: bollocks. He wanted to leave last season and now he has. Wenger was fine with it and sent him packing. Henry is a bit egotistical and wants to look like he was forced into this and it wasn’t his fault. Whatever. He was a great player for the Arsenal, scored wonderful goals, and did tons for the club and their supporters. But as of yesterday when I saw a picture of him in a Barca kit, he is done for me. I don’t wish him ill will or anything, but I’m not really interested in what he has to say, what he is doing, and how he will play at Barca. He isn’t a Gunner anymore.

I am interested in what Wenger does in the close season. I would love for him to sign a new contract, but he doesn’t typically do that until near the end of his current contract, so I’m not too concerned. Wenger should also have a nice transfer kitty and I’m hoping he tries to empty it. There is no need to buy just to buy, but there are some area that need strengthening, even before Henry left. We’ll see and in Wenger I trust. Enough of this stuff. Too much will drive you mental.

The U.S. men’s soccer team beat Mexico in the Gold Cup Final on Sunday, 2-1. There could have been a few others (ahem, Ching hitting the post with an empty net and Beasley sending the ball into row Z with an open goal as well). Mexico also played well and really took it to the U.S. in the first half. But it seems that the U.S. has Mexico’s number recently and this may have had some mental impact on the Mexican side. We’ll see how they do as both teams head to Venezuela for the Copa America. Group A action starts tonight, Brazil and Mexico play tomorrow, and the U.S. takes on the Argies. A win is vital for the U.S., not only will it help them in their group, but it is against the Argies. Got to find out what channel it is on. May need to get a US jersey as well. My caps may not be enough mojo.

In baseball news, this guy was not happy.

Enough for today.

Adios.

Blog all hosed up today

So I'm trying to get this thing back and running again but it all seems to be going a bit haywire. Hopefully I'll get it sorted.
